Rural route. We leave from Pereira in a Willys jeep and make our way to the small town of Combia, where we begin the day with a good stretch and warm-up before getting on our bikes and riding for approximately an hour and a half to Estación Pereira, a small village located in the municipality of Marsella, Risaralda.
This is a route where huge and beautiful fields of crops such as coffee, plantain, pineapple and soursop can be seen all around us. We can also see and hear birds such as parrots, blue-crowned motmots and canaries, amongst others. At Estación Pereira we take a brujita, a local mode of transport which is basically a wooden platform with ball bearings which moves along train tracks. It will take us on an exciting journey along the River Cauca. We then take another local mode of transport called a garrucha, which consists of a wooden and metal basket suspended by steel cables. This allows us to cross the River Cauca and reach the other side, entering the municipality of Belalcázar, Caldas. After a short rest, we have the option of walking to a small waterfall before beginning the return journey to Estación Pereira, where we take a Chiva or Willys jeep back to the city of Pereira.
